About 1.29 billion people are living in absolute poverty (around 400 million people in India and 173 million people in China). Sub-Saharan Africa has the highest incidence rate of absolute poverty (47%). Economic aspects of poverty focus on material needs, typically including the necessities of daily living, such as food, clothing, housing, or safe drinking water. Today, poverty reduction is a major worry for many international organizations such as the United Nations and the World Bank.
